View Full Version : Who'd Have Thought Accordions To Be So Damn Sexy

This is a Stolen Babies thread. I've been listening to "There Be Squabbles" again after a year or so, and god damn I love this band. Taking their cues from Mr. Bungle and fellow the End records label-mates Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, their music can only be described as... fuck man. Tim Burton starting a carnival and killing all the faggots with Nightmare Before Chrismas beanies at the entrance.

Seriously though, awesome fucking group and album.

Also,

Nomnomnomnom @ her boots.

Pretty awesome, even though we barely hear the accordion. This band is now on my list of things to buy (or try to find...).

Oh hey a link. (http://rapidshare.com/files/93099558/Stolen_Babies_-_2006_-_There_Be_Squabbles_Ahead_By_Reincremated.rar)

That's actually one of the... "softer" tracks on the album. The rest are either heavier or just... more wacky.

No problem. I'm a music pusher, so I always have a link for these things handy.

THat just brought up my breakfast, and I haven't eaten yet. Looks and sounds worse than Charlei and the chocolate factory. Never let Tim Burton direct your music videos.

wordsHow does listening to boring music work out for you? :)

Edit: Probably should've checked your last.fm before hand, then I would've known I was 100% accurate and wouldn't have bothered to post.

Edit 2: :)

That is broing music up there. Good luck with itI'd like to think the inclusion of things like glockenspiel, theremin, Hammond organs and upright bass would qualify otherwise, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe... let's see. Yes, maybe Linkin Park and Trust Company had it right, yeah?

I'll dispatch an e-mail suggesting Stolen Babies adopt a weeaboo rapper this instant.

It's called "Shuffle around amongst the 5k+ songs in the background while I kill war targets" in case you never heard of it.

It's called "Shuffle around amongst the 5k+ songs in the background while I kill war targets" in case you never heard of it.I'm sure Linkin Park and Trust Company randomly appeared on your computer without any real effort to look them up.

I totally see where you're coming from, sometimes I wonder how the 15,000 odd songs I have just appeared on my laptop.

BUT IN THE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEND IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER

You're not making sense. However, I used to listen to them back in 2001, and have been listening to less music ever since. Focusing on what directly interests me, not just general radio-style. For some obvious, and whocares reason iTunes tends to focus... wait, why am I even explaining this to your ignorance? Trust company is on the 37th, and Linkin Park on the 16th place in my alltime charts. WTF are you even on about? Most of that chart was formed by stuff I listened to 3 years, and more ago.

CRAAWWWWWWWWWWLING IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN"Explaining things to my ignorance." Le sigh. Alright, let's take a second look at your last.fm. Mostly classical. That's all fine and well, but that just raises a new question: you're ignorant of the type of context Stolen Babies come from, why are you even attempting to make a valid critical statement? Am I wrong, do you know who Mr. Bungle is? Guessing not. While, it certainly doesn't negate your ability to spout off your worthless opinion... well. That's pretty much it. Your opinion is worthless. Having made such a bold statement, I reserve the right to point out how much of an idiot you are for having done so, unless you're going to make a critically potent statement.

You are indeed an idiot, by the by.

Ha! I have to admit, when a girl is at the front of a band, I'm usually less prone to liking them, but this is butter. The accordion is a hot addon to the already present sex appeal in the singer.

THat just brought up my breakfast, and I haven't eaten yet. Looks and sounds worse than Charlei and the chocolate factory. Never let Tim Burton direct your music videos.
Well, I think it's apparent why Iron Octopus is on your case. You clearly could've conducted yourself better in expressing your opinion. Such extreme negativity and blatant lack of respect totally voids your opinion, making it, in a sense, "worthless".

Also, Charley and the Chocolate Factory was a pretty good movie. It's dark atmosphere and large plot edits were made to reflect that of the book's telling of the story. So the "nostalgia is lost" argument is totally useless, because the book came out first. And though he's over hyped and totally rich and shit, Tim Burton was a pretty good choice to direct that movie. Think of how many characters would be killed off because Quentin Tarantino was selected instead.

Anyways, awesome band. Continue.

EDIT: http://eclipstice.com/f/showpost.php?p=547&postcount=9 HAHAHAHA

Well, you're both as wrong as you can evert be. An opinion is never wrong/worthless/stupid in general, but only in the mind of an individual. Be it joined by others, or not. I, for certain, find this particular example extremely uninteresting, and have expressed myself as such. I don't oppose acordion music, as my great uncle (one of them) was excellent at playing the instrument, but as said above that version of it's usage I find repulsive. So, all-in-all, your opinions on my opinions of my taste are extremely wrong, and selfish, regardless of how I expressed myself. Run a poll, or rally a petition, if you desire, but until then it's a forum opinion, and as valid as your ignorant research of my last.fm page.

p.s. apologies for my grammar flaws; Excused by an amount of alcohol consumed.

On another note, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is nothing more than a modern, puppetmaster translation of The Christmas Carol. Of course, that's my opinion. Granted, anyone may have enjoyed the movie differently.

As for the "haha"
You can not deny the awesomeness of the Doctor Who Season 1, and 2 soundtrack. If so, you're clearly oblivious of one of the longest running TV series of all times, if not THE longest. I suggest checking Enigma Audio for Doomsday.

That said, opinions differ. Don't be a bitter loser, and accept your opinions matter nothing to anyone with a different opinion. Keep it to yourself, or announce it, bout your criticism is purely yours alone, and pretty insignificant.

This are the internets: created for expression.

Further worthlessnessnesses shall be taken in with a /b/ newfag sense. You phail (e.g.)

Alright, so the first time I watched this video I was pretty much like "OK, this is interesting." Came back to it recently, though, and some accordion fetish voodoo took over me. Not only can I not get enough of the music, I simply can't get enough of watching this girl sing.

Stolen Babies owns. Known them for quite some time now, very interesting and fun album. :)

Also, something about a screaming chick with an accordion is just interesting. ;)

Well, after the only accordian player I know in real life being a very attractive girl, and after seeing Turisas live with them having a hot 17 year old Sweedish accordian player as a stand-in for their usual guy, hot accordian players no longer surprise me. But still, an excellent band and an excellent album.
