The laughter of the joker shall forever be the last memory of Heath Ledger, the world over. ...When The Dark Knight is finally released.
The Dark Knight discussion or Heath Ledger's death? The decision is yours.

I would add a comment regarding something I heard about Heath but since I don't know the contents of that video.. I might as well wait until I get home. Computer I'm currently using doesn't allow you to view videos; dumb shit.

This may sound "insensitive", but I didn't know the guy, so I'm simply glad they finished the filming for TDK. With all respect or his family, ofcourse.
He looks like a fine Joker, somewhat darker than he was before. "Joker with a twist", so to speak. I'm very curious.

After filming Brokeback he found out that bumsex was the way to the Gods, and so split up from his wife and child before getting shagged in the ass by sleeping pills.
yeah.

Since Brokeback Mountain displayed the love between two gay cowboys, some people were going to get organized and protest infront of some church where his funeral was going to take place. Why? They blame him for giving them a bad name.
It is amazing how close-minded people can take a role so seriously. It truly is appalling.
Aside from that, I can't wait until the premiere! Not sure about everyone else, but I prefer this Joker. He looks believably insane, specially after watching the trailer.

That would be Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church crew. Look them up on Wikipedia or something. Most famous for their site: www.godhatesfags.com and I have to say that they've done far worse than picket Heath's funeral; and will continue to do worse.

His death surprised me, I had no idea he was into all that sleeping pill stuff but then again I didn't know the guy personally. It's sad he died because he was a very talented actor and I pretty much liked every film he's been in. They reckon this role of the joker contributed to his death. He really got into the role of not sleeping and he was on the set 'til 5am in the morning at times. But I don't know.
That laugh is fucking awesome. This will definately be the best joker ever. "Lets put a smile on that face." I love it. His voice and everything, so psychotic. What a legend. (: Can't wait for the film. Just to see Heath as the joker.

As far as posters go, I'm frothing at the mouth for this one (http://www.movieposter.com/poster/MPW-29829/Dark_Knight.html). I've never had so much as a remote want to own a poster, let alone hang one in my room. Suddenly, for once in my life it seems I absolutely need to throw some cash towards this lovely decoration.
Re: Heath's death, I'm interested to see what kind of evidence the authorities dig up. His demise came so far out of left field that even GOD wouldn't see it coming, seriously. I like how he was found in Mary-Kate Olsen's apartment, of all places. Crazy theories have been terrorizing the internetz for a while, but we all know that Jack Nicholson assassinated Ledger in a futile attempt to snag the Joker role yet again. ::noonelaughs::
Cold jokes aside, my thoughts go out to his family and I hope he rests in peace.
Shun, are you telling me you haven't seen the new trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thedarkknight/trailer2/)!? It's good stuff.
Shun
January 28th, 2008, 10:46 AM
I still fail to see Two-Face being part of the movie. I've seen the trailer (I think when it first aired/ended up on YouTube) before, but all I could remember from it was the laughter and the new car.
As for the poster... $125?!? You're really willing to go all-out for that poster, rather than trying to find a cheap rip-off version of it?
Edit: I'm not saying it's not amazing.. I'm just saying a $15 payment for it would be a bit better, IMO.

Just dont forget fgts that Jack Nicholson MADE the batman movie.
Just hope that Heath was half as good a joker as he was.
There was a better poster than that, where it's the joker walkin down a street in Gotham with a knife behind his back. I cant find it no mo though. :(
On Ledger's death? I dont care that he died, really, I dont remember him being in any movies other than Dark Knight.

I kind of...forgot about that tbh. I saw the trailer and was too blown away by Heath's portrayal of the joker to remember anything else. That laugh. Seriously. Ledger > Bale, anyday.
That film poster is good. I've never seen that one. All I keep seeing are this:

O HELL NAW @ the $125 price tag. I swear, it was about $40 cheaper than that when I looked at it last week. I'll most likely try to get my hands on a cheaper version if at all possible, since my wallet's not exactly bursting at the seams with that green stuff. $15 sounds much more attractive, though I have doubts that I'd find it for that cheap... alas. And oh snap, talk of a better poster? I'm definitely holding off until I hear/see moar then.
Yeah, I don't deny that Nicholson made Burton's Batman... The man's badass incarnate, after all. Heck, he'd probably pull off a suitably insane Joker in The Dark Knight even with Nolan's new approach.

There will be even if there was nobody going to see it, and I'd bet that Dark Knight ends up breaking records on sales just from the hype.
The difference is that Queen of the Damned was an okay movie but it was still really only about Lestat rockin out as a vampire rocker. They took out all the storyline that was from the book.

So, a little under a week left. I was just watching some shiz on TV and they were saying that this was easily the the best superhero film made thus far, and that the dark and gritty atmosphere is right on par with award-winning films like The Departed.
Quick google says the show was called At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper. Biased guyz rating a blockbuster film highly to improve their reputation? I have no idea.
But my anticipation just shot through the roof.

So yeah, not even going to lie to you guys.
That was even better than the previews made it look (and the previews gave away nothing, by the way). The hype surrounding this movie is pretty much 100% deserved. There aren't even minor flaws for me to pick at. Very solid, very awesome movie. I'm going to see it again Tuesday morning. Possibly again Wednesday night.
Now... who can resist the urge to click the spoiler button? :p
Some very quotable lines, especially by the Joker. Freakin loved Ledger's performance. "What doesn't kill you only makes you... stranger." And how he kept changing the story on how he got his scars - I was very glad that the Joker had zero back story. And the pencil magic trick at the beginning, totally did not see that coming, rofl. And the nurse outfit, and the "one man" bank heist, etc etc. Every Joker scene was beyond entertaining.
Basically, he made you laugh, and then feel a little bit awful inside for laughing.

Why do I not feel the desire to see this movie?
Simply because sometime in the past, a superhero movie came out that began a wave of superhero movies. That movie got very good reviews and I saw it months after it came out, thinking I would see a good movie. Said movie sucked hard. Now, I've learned my lesson and I never expect too much out of a movie. So, when a lot of people tell me a movie is "the best ever", I go see something else.
I saw Hellboy 2 yesterday, by the way.

There's a difference between OD'ing of a drug you became addicted to (not well informed on Jimi Hendrix's death) and swallowing a handful of sleeping pills, with the intent of dying.

Not that I exactly see that as justification, but Hendrix's impact is far wider-reaching than Ledger's.
Anyway, I saw Dark Knight. I liked it more or less strictly because of the Joker and Two-Face/Harvey Dent. Though it was surprising at points, Christian Bale's acting got laughable at points. His Batman voice is absolutely absurd. I think once the hype wears off, people will realize this is not the 9.6 IMDb is giving it, it's just something people haven't seen in a long, long time: a generally good movie.

Man, I absolutely loved this. To be honest, you've gotta lump me in with the new generation of Batman fanboys that didn't give a damn about Gotham until Nolan unveiled Batman Begins. I was largely into this newfangled superhero movie scene at the time, and Begins just blew my mind. It's sat upon the throne as my personal favorite movie for some time now, and I've been anticipating this sequel ever since hearing about it in late '05 (if memory serves).
Was not disappointed in the least. Gotta say that Ledger's Joker is what really makes this movie, though. He really did steal all of his scenes (naikou and Ilythia hit the nail on the head). I've already told a few people that this is my new all-time favorite movie, and while this may hold up for a while yet, it's entirely probable that I might have simply found a favorite film character. It's really not just because Heath had this mysterious shocking suicidal death, either. The guy can act, and he explores this character in a way that really exceeded my expectations. I feel he'd still be getting all this oscar-talk even if he still was alive.
Slaugher is the best medicine.
But yeah, if I have to nitpick: I feel they didn't explore Wayne's character quite as well as they did in the first movie. Harvey Dent was great, though. And as usual, the ending was open to another entry in the series. If they really plan on this, I hope Nolan realizes the bar's been set pretty high.
9.6 on IMDb? That's a shocker. I figured I'd be in a fanboyish minority. Just did a quick check on RottenTomatoes, and the critics are actually eating this film up too. Not sure what's going on.
