The new teaser trailer for the film based on the childrens book "Where the Wild Things Are" has been posted up online and I can barely contain my excitement.

For those who want to cry foul at the film being one in a long line of adaptations/remakes/pure horse shit, just watch the trailer as it speaks for itself.

http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/03/25/must-watch-where-the-wild-things-are-teaser-trailer/

And in case it didn't: The film was actually worked on for FOUR years by the amazing director, Spike Jonze, of "Adaptation" and "Being John Malkovich" as well as many beautiful and interesting music videos and commercials.

Plus the author of the original book is like in love with Spike and has nothing, but good things to say about the film.

The Henson Company (The Muppets, first few Ninja Turtles films, et cetera) worked on the Wild Thing designs, but additional work was put into the CG effects for their faces/emotions in order to help with a more believable emotionality.

The film could suck for all I know (doubt it), but I'm really excited.

Spike said that he isn't making a childrens film, but is instead making a film about how it is to be a child.

So what do you think?

The trailer gives the movie a "Neverending Story" feel that I find really cool.
It doesn't look like it could be a bad movie. I will go see this without a doubt. It's a shame I don't stay up to date on movies anymore... That's the kind of thing I don't like to miss.

God fucking damnit, are you serious? I'm dying here.

I didn't know there was an adaptation being made or much less the fact that the film was in productions for four years! Oh man. It definitely awoke the child in me again. This movie is something definitely worth looking forward to.

The 2d animated version of this was really good. I had hoped it was animated, but CG isn't so bad, so I might just watch it.

It's not CG, only the faces are. It's actually men and women in costumes.

Plus, CG is animated as well. Not just 2D.

Uh...thanks for the useless information?

I'm a Bachelor's in Media Arts & Animation.

I'm sorry if my industry lingo baffles you.

CG= Computer Graphics, unlike traditional animation which is hand drawn, CG is anything using computer software.

There was short 2d piece for the movie that was in youtube a while back, I believe it was just an animation test, and it looked quite awesome.

No, I believe it is you who misunderstood me. I myself am going to college for film and animation. Small world.

You said, "I had hoped it was animated, but CG isn't so bad..."

Implying that CG is not animated. Which it is. Animation means 'movement' to paraphrase the definition. I know that hand drawn animation is 2d, but Computer Graphics is still animation as well.

Thank you and goodnight.

Where did the "used to" part come from?

I live to serve.

Where did the "used to" part come from?

Well, no doubt the lot of you still think I'm the devil, it used to be fun. People used to make threads with titles like "DEATH 2 XU!" Alas, those days are over (obscurity and obsolescence are cruel twins.)

You're welcome to test that theory... though only the people I liked from this sites former incarnations remain; I'd have a hard time finding a motive.

That's unfortunate. A little bit of "OMG Proxy sux!!!1!" could do much to add life to this place.

We tried to have a roast of YourMom once upon a time. That could be a fun thing to do. Though back then it was less funny and more just mean spirited. That led to Shunyata and I changing YourMom's user title to "SEX OFFENDER." We blamed it on internet hackers and the entire community bought it for some reason (though I'm pretty sure it was public knowledge we hated him.)

I know it's dumb to say. But I used to stare at Proxy's avatar for hours just because of how amazingly badass it was to me. Just so cool.

And the attitude ('bitchyness') was always a reason to log on in my opinion.

October 16 is the official release date, meaning this upcoming Friday. Or Thursday to Friday-ish if you go out of your way to view the midnight screening. I've been going to the theater frequently seeing a bunch of movies such as 9, Pandorum, Capitalism: A Love Story, Bright Star.. just to name a few. I've been bombarded with ever updated trailers of Where the Wilds Things Are that makes me weary of whether I should look forward to seeing the movie or not. Trailers have the habit of ruining a movie. I hate that.

Anyone else planning on watching it?

*looks around*

Well I watched it!

Last Monday I had some free time available so I decided to check out the movie and see for myself whether it was worth anticipating or not. Normally, theaters tend to be rather empty during the weekdays and you usually find about five people at most in the auditorium. Or you have the entire room by yourself, which I enjoy immensely. Though at times I feel very self-conscious when I'm the only one laughing. Super weird sensation. Try it if you haven't done so.

While I was walking through the corridor I heard a lot of people talking. I didn't know whether I heard wrong or mistook the room but when I turned around the corner, what I witnessed scared me in a not so scary way. There was a shit load of adults. With their children.. well I didn't see a whole lot of children. More like toddlers and infants. I have never seen so many parents with their babies and strollers in a single room. It was nuts!

The damned room was full of parents and their babies/toddlers. I didn't have the liberty of choosing my own seat! Was forced to choose the front section, last row because almost every row had strollers blocking the way. And parents conversing with each other. It felt wrong to ask them to move out of the way since they had their kids on their laps. Wish I could've taken a picture, but hello me not wanting to be rude. lol

That's when I realized that a lot of these parents had grown up with this book. I finally understood the magnitude ...god dammit, I can't quite put the words right but you guys understand what I mean. Yeah. Of course, I also realized that I wasn't going to enjoy the movie the way I was expecting to because infants tend to cry a lot. I dreaded the moment when one would start to cry, and the rest would follow suit. Imagine a room of wailing babies? Thankfully not a whole lot cried. Parents where very attentive to their children. Heck, I think they paid more attention to their babies than the actual movie. I found myself looking at a couple of toddlers playing around in front of the movie screen.

That was a bad sign. When a movie is so interesting that it captivates you, you completely forget about your surroundings because you're so engrossed in the movie. Where the Wild Things Are never achieved that effect. Why, I can't quite say. Maybe the story felt too stretched for a movie based on children's book that is only nine sentences long. Perhaps if Max (main protagonist) hadn't acted like some sort of animal most of the time, I would've liked his character better. The first part of the film before his dream took over, I felt myself sympathizing him. It was believable. But then the movie shifted to the dream portion.. it wasn't exciting to say the least.

Maybe I was expecting too much. I don't know. What I do know is that I had to sit through the entire credits and about 5 minutes more to wait for the parents who sat to my left and right to get up and leave. XD Alas, had to wait patiently until I could finally pass. I'll admit that it was a bit irritating but at the same time I was so glad I witnessed such event. It's not every day you see so many parents with their baby strollers stuck in a single room.

Haha! Oh wow I'm so enjoying this. Absolutely loving the band members playing with the audience

Oh, it got even better! Awesome! Is there an available mp3??

Honestly, I didn't expect anything when I clicked that video. I'm beyond impressed. The soundtrack for the movie was dull for my taste. Well, I can't recall a single song that stood out when I watched the movie that would make me rush home and download the soundtrack. Speaking of which, the song that played in the trailers wasn't present at all in the film. *sigh* can't have it all I guess.

What? The song from The Arcade Fire wasn't in the movie?
Damn, I guess I don't have to go see it after all...

Edit: uploading the song NOW. Will post the link in minutes.

I honestly felt cheated because I was expecting the song to play in the movie or at least the credits. Sat through both of them and the song was never near in sight. It makes me believe that the song is what made the trailers good and as a consequence, made people look forward to watching the movie. Aside from the fact about it being based on that book.

Glad to know the name of the band that plays the song though! Been meaning to download it.

Download the song but my iPod doesn't want to work. ;____;!
